Alstom Turkey and Istanbul Technical University sign a technical cooperation protocol

The partnership is focused on training on ‘’Engineering in Railway” of ITU engineering students and Alstom newcomers. Alstom newcomers will be trained by trainers from Alstom and ITU whereby the number of experts in subsystems such as track and power supply will be increased. The first “Engineering in Railway” training of this kind was held between March the 26th-30th. Reciprocally, ITU engineering students will be trained by Alstom experts, who will introduce the railway sector as well as Alstom’s worldwide experience and key project references. The collaboration shall also include joint activities for seminars, workshops, conferences, symposiums, congresses, meetings, promotional events between the two parties.

 “This partnership will contribute to expand the sector awareness and to increase the skilled workforce on railway sector in Turkey with encouraging young and talented ITU engineers to be a part of the sector and to add value to the sector with skilled Alstom Turkish engineers who are experts in their fields” said Mrs. Arban Citak, Alstom Turkey Managing Director.

“ITU, working on transportation systems and solutions since its establishment, has privileged accumulation of knowledge in the field. This accumulation is also a guide in shaping the future of our university. Academic development on thematic and hybrid studies is among are objectives, and transportation is considered as a priority area for both. In this direction, both specialist workforce is trained and leading innovative solutions are introduced to the transportation sector. The pioneering role of ITU in the different layers and stages of the transportation sector is evolving with the experience of distinguished project partners; it returns to our country as a work that increases comfort in social life and provides technological superiority.” said Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, the President of ITU.

Alstom has been present in Turkey for nearly 60 years. Istanbul office serves as the Regional Headquarters for MEA region and a regional center for signalling and system projects. Therefore, all bidding, project management, design, purchasing, engineering, maintenance services for the signaling and system projects in the MEA region are conducted from Istanbul. Turkey is the main platform for exporting talents in current projects of Alstom all around MEA region.
