Gorky Automobile Plant, a leading Russian manufacturer of commercial vehicles, presents its lineup of vehicles at the international exhibition MOTORSHOW-2019. The models on display include the Sadko Next medium-duty truck, the GAZelle Next chassis cab with a six-speed gearbox, as well as the bus based on the GAZelle Next van. The exhibition takes place from September 27 to September 29.
Gorky Automobile Plant presents its lineup of vehicles at the international exhibition MOTOSHOW-2019 in Estonia. GAZ participates in the exhibition together with its local distributor, REBELLA company. The International Automotive Exhibition in Tartu is held annually and features the major automotive brands represented in Estonia.
Leonid Dolgov, GAZ Group Director for Export Sales:
– GAZ vehicles have been well known in Estonia for a very long time. Our partner, REBELLA, has been supplying GAZ products to the Estonian market since 1993. The vehicles are popular with consumers thanks to their key advantages – low cost of ownership, durability and maximum functionality. We are confident that expanding the lineup of the new generation vehicles will allow us to strengthen our position in the Estonian market. We are currently focusing on promoting our latest model – the Sadko Next off-road truck.
Juhan Ansper, REBELLA Commercial Director:
– Even during the most difficult periods of relations between our countries GAZ never lost touch with Estonia, where the GAZ brand is well known. And we are doing everything to make sure that the popularity of this brand only grows: we participate in exhibitions, conduct advertising campaigns. We used to sell the GAZ-3308 Sadko in Estonia, but the Next a far cry compared to it: this is a completely different vehicle that is advanced in every department, both in terms of its specifications, and in terms of comfort, design, and off-road capabilities.
The Sadko Next is a new generation of GAZ medium-duty trucks. The vehicle has retained all excellent off-road capabilities of its predecessors: a good body geometry for off-road performance, a high ground clearance, a step-down gear and locking differentials of the front and rear axles; a tire inflation system. The main changes involved the comfort, handling, and functionality of the vehicle.
The new Sadko has a spacious Next three-seater cab that features a a spring-mounted anatomical driver seat. The vehicle’s payload capacity increased to 3 tons (for the chassis). Now the vehicle capable of towing a trailer with a gross weight of up to 2.56 tons. A highly flexible YMZ-534 diesel engine allows producing a high torque while crawling at a minimum speed. The engine’s maximum power output increased to 149 hp, the maximum torque – to 490 Nm.
The integrated steering together with a new front suspension with thin leaf springs provides good handling, smooth ride and stability. The fully pneumatic brake system ensures efficient braking requiring a little force on the brake pedal. Thanks to the ability of supplying air with a compressor the system remains operational even with small leaks present. The air can be used for various superstructures, to inflate tires and for connecting the braking system of a trailer.
The vehicle is equipped with an upgraded part-time transfer case with an electro-pneumatic drive. The tire pressure adjustment system is also controlled from the dashboard. The upgraded gearbox is controlled via a joystick shifter (optional). The possibility of using a power take-off both on the gearbox and on the transfer case allows installing a winch and a large number of special superstructures at the same time.
A reinforced frame made of high-strength steel, a new driveline, wheels with upgraded disks and new tires with higher load rating, axles with new steering knuckles allowed increasing the vehicle’s payload capacity while retaining high reliability and durability of the design as a whole.
Optionally the vehicle can be fitted with a second 95 l fuel tank, a winch and a snorkel. A spring-mounted driver seat (adjustable depending on weight), power windows and heated mirrors are standard.
The GAZelle Next chassis cab is presented in the standard version featuring a single-row cabin. The base Next chassis allows mounting more than 300 different superstructures depending on application.
The vehicle is fitted with a TDI 2.0 diesel engine and a new six-speed gearbox that was self-developed by GAZ. The vehicle is characterized by low noise and vibration levels, reduced fuel consumption and improved traction and dynamic performance. The compact diesel engine with a 2.0 l displacement, a turbocharger and a Common Rail injection system meets the most stringent requirements applied to engines used in commercial vehicles. The engine’s maximum power output is 136 hp. The maximum torque of 340 Nm is produced in the most used range of 1600-2250 RPM. The small displacement and the high per-liter power output ensure fuel efficiency at the level of the best performers in the light commercial vehicles class. The special balancing unit used in the engine design enabled to effectively neutralize engine vibration and noise, improve comfort of the driver and passengers and ensure uniform operation within the whole RPM range. The model presented at the exhibition conforms to the European emission standard Euro-5.
The GAZelle NEXT minibus with a long wheelbase and a high roof is presented in the bright blue Sydney color.
The new minibus model features a Spicer rear axle and a braking system with disc brakes on all wheels. The spacious passenger compartment with high (190 cm) headroom and panoramic windows provides passenger comfort and the sliding door with high door opening combined with a retractable footboard ensures easy entry and exit.
The bus is designed to carry 22 passengers (14 seated) and can be used as a corporate or tourist bus. Three heaters and an air conditioner ensure optimal climate in the cabin under any weather conditions. The increased stiffness of the body and the crumple zones incorporated in the vehicle’s load-bearing elements design, guarantee the safety of passengers and the driver.
