One out of two e-buses registered in France in first half 2024 were Iveco

As reported by German trade media omnibus.news based on figures from ACEA and the French Comité des Constructeurs Français d’Automobiles (CCFA), “424 or 398 electric buses, depending on the statistics and total weight taken into account as well as clear brand classification (>3.5 or >8 tonnes), were newly registered in the first six months of the current year”. Last year it was 507 registrations in the period January to June.

Electric bus market 2024 in France

Still as reported on omnibus.news, 332 e-buses were branded with Iveco Bus, Bluebus and Mercedes-Benz’s logo: around 80 per cent of the newly registered e-buses comes from the three major brands.

Leading the chart is Iveco Bus with 198 E-Way registered, meaning a share close to 50 per cent of the total fleet of e-buses launched in operations. Bluebus (whose vehicles were put again in service in Paris in April 2024) follow with 107 units. Then, lagging behind, Mercedes with 27 buses and Irizar e-mobility with 26 units. It is worth mentioning that the first eCitaro labelled ‘made in France’ was produced in July this year as a result of a €50M investment pured by Daimler Truck in Ligny-en-Barrois plant.
