Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) is expanding its HD permanent-magnet motor platform with the introduction of the new HD.T3+ electric motor, designed specifically for intercity coaches and heavy-duty transit bus applications. Delivering 465 kW of continuous power, the new high-performance motor will be presented at InnoTrans 2026, highlighting TSA’s growing focus on advanced electric drive solutions for heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
The HD.T3+ builds on the proven architecture of TSA’s existing HD.T3 motor, which is already used in electric city bus applications. With significantly increased continuous power and torque, the new motor extends the platform to meet the demanding requirements of intercity and heavy-duty passenger transport.
TSA HD.T3+ Delivers 465 kW of Continuous Power
The new TSA HD.T3+ permanent-magnet motor offers a substantial performance increase compared with the existing HD.T3 platform.
Continuous torque has been increased from 1,519 Nm to 2,500 Nm, while continuous power rises from 360 kW to 465 kW. The HD.T3+ is capable of delivering 550 kW of peak power and 5,000 Nm of peak torque, providing the performance required for demanding heavy-duty bus and coach operations.
These specifications position the HD.T3+ as a powerful electric propulsion solution for vehicle manufacturers seeking higher performance for electric intercity buses, coaches and heavy-duty transit vehicles.
Building on TSA’s Proven HD.T3 Motor Platform
Rather than developing an entirely new architecture, TSA has expanded its established HD.T3 electric motor platform to address a broader range of commercial vehicle applications.
The existing HD.T3 has been designed for electric city buses, while the enhanced HD.T3+ takes the platform into higher-performance applications where greater continuous torque and power are essential.
By building on an established permanent-magnet motor architecture, TSA is extending its electric drivetrain portfolio to support the ongoing transition toward zero-emission public transport and electrified heavy-duty mobility.
HD.T3+ Targets Electric Intercity Coaches and Heavy-Duty Buses
The HD.T3+ has been developed with the specific requirements of electric intercity coaches and heavy-duty transit buses in mind. These vehicles typically require sustained high power and torque to handle longer routes, higher passenger loads and more demanding operating conditions than conventional urban bus applications.
With 465 kW continuous output and 2,500 Nm continuous torque, the new motor provides TSA with a solution capable of addressing these more demanding duty cycles while supporting the broader electrification of the commercial vehicle sector.
TSA to Showcase HD.T3+ at InnoTrans 2026
The HD.T3+ will be presented at InnoTrans 2026, one of the world’s leading international trade fairs for transport technology.
The introduction of the new motor represents another step in TSA’s expansion of its electric propulsion technologies and strengthens the company’s position in the market for high-performance electric motors for buses and commercial vehicles.
