PHINIA will present its latest methanol fuel systems, advanced diesel injection technologies and hydrogen powertrain solutions at ICE & PE 2026 in Nanjing, China, from November 11–13. The company will also highlight its expanding presence in the Chinese commercial vehicle market, supported by the acquisition of stoba and growing demand for alternative fuel technologies.
PHINIA Inc. (NYSE: PHIN), a global supplier of fuel systems, electrical systems and aftermarket solutions, is preparing to showcase its advanced powertrain technologies at the 2026 International Exhibition on Internal Combustion Engine & Powertrain Equipment (ICE & PE).
The exhibition will provide an opportunity for PHINIA to demonstrate its growing capabilities in China, where commercial vehicle and engine manufacturers are increasingly exploring alternative fuels, advanced combustion technologies and more efficient powertrain solutions.
Methanol Fuel Systems Gain Momentum in China
PHINIA’s gasoline direct injection (GDi) methanol technology is already being used in a major vehicle customer application in China, while interest in methanol port fuel injection (PFI) continues to increase.
At ICE & PE 2026, the company will introduce its dual diesel/methanol fuel system, designed to control both fuels simultaneously and improve combustion efficiency. PHINIA will also display technologies supporting hydrogen and compressed natural gas (CNG) applications.
The company’s recent acquisition of stoba has further strengthened its manufacturing operations and supply chain capabilities in China. By integrating an established supplier into its business, PHINIA aims to increase vertical integration, improve supply chain resilience and strengthen cooperation with local commercial vehicle manufacturers.
Advanced Fuel Injection Technologies for Heavy-Duty Engines
PHINIA will also highlight its expanding portfolio of fuel injection solutions for large engines and ultra-heavy-duty applications.
The DUP4CBX fuel pump delivers injection pressures of up to 2,500 bar and features modular pumping elements designed to support a broad range of engine power requirements. The technology also enables dual diesel and alternative fuel control.
PHINIA’s large-engine fuel system supports up to 10 DFI 5.2 injections per cycle at 2,000 bar. Validated for 1.6 million kilometres or 25,000 operating hours, the system is engineered to deliver durability and efficiency in demanding commercial applications.
Hank Yang, Vice President & General Manager, Power Systems Asia at PHINIA, commented:
“We believe the Chinese commercial vehicle market will continue to evolve towards a mix of powertrain technologies. Our alternative fuel and ignition systems help customers balance increasingly stringent emissions requirements with the need for efficiency and durability. With methanol technologies already moving into real application and the acquisition of stoba strengthening our local manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, we’re better positioned to work alongside customers in developing the next generation of powertrains.”
Diesel Injection and Ignition Systems Target Future Emissions Standards
Alongside its alternative fuel technologies, PHINIA will showcase diesel injection systems and capacitive and inductive ignition solutions for light- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
Manufactured across four facilities in China, these technologies are designed to support fuel efficiency, precise injection control and long-term durability.
PHINIA’s diesel injection systems operate at pressures of up to 3,000 bar, helping improve fuel atomization, reduce particulate emissions and optimize fuel consumption. The solutions are also intended to support manufacturers preparing for increasingly stringent emissions regulations, including the anticipated China VII standards.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the company’s 500 bar GDi fuel system and advanced ignition technologies developed for alternative fuel applications.
Hydrogen Powertrain Technologies to Make ICE & PE Debut
PHINIA will demonstrate its hydrogen technology capabilities through solutions developed as part of Alpine’s Alpenglow hydrogen program, which will be exhibited at ICE & PE for the first time.
The company has also made progress in hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle applications. Recent testing of a 13-litre commercial engine demonstrator, converted from diesel to hydrogen using PHINIA’s high-flow PFI injector, achieved indicated thermal efficiency exceeding 45%.
Todd Anderson, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at PHINIA, stated:
“Commercial vehicle manufacturers need practical technology options that can meet different duty cycles, performance requirements, and emissions targets. Our advanced diesel and methanol technologies support customers’ evolving requirements today, while our hydrogen technologies demonstrate the potential of future powertrain solutions. By investing across these technologies, we aim to give manufacturers the flexibility to adopt the solutions best suited to their applications.”
PHINIA Strengthens Its Position in China’s Commercial Vehicle Market
Through investments in methanol, diesel, hydrogen and ignition technologies, PHINIA continues to expand its powertrain portfolio to address changing market requirements.
Its growing local manufacturing network and strengthened supply chain are expected to support closer collaboration with Chinese vehicle and engine manufacturers.
PHINIA will showcase its latest technologies at booth 6A03-1 during ICE & PE 2026, taking place November 11–13 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.
