Now that the Busworld exhibition is moving from Kortrijk to Brussels, the Busworld Awards competition is moving there too. At the foot of the Atomium, right in front of the majestic Palace 5 of Brussels Expo, about 20 buses and coaches will be tested by more than 30 jurors with different specialisms on October 12th 2019.
What a magnificent view it will be!
Alstom, Altas Auto, Anadolu Isuzu, Blue Solutions, Daimler Buses, Ebusco, Indcar, In-Tech/Citaro, Iveco, MAN, Rafako, Solaris, Van Hool, VDL, Volvo Buses and Yutong all confirmed their intention to participate with one or more vehicles.
The Busworld Awards competition identifies the ‘best’ coach and the ‘best’ bus of the exhibition. Only vehicles present in the exhibition can participate. All aspects of comfort, safety, design and ecology of the vehicle are being evaluated and tested to be able to determine who wins the ‘Grand Award Coach’ and the ‘Grand Award Bus’. Vehicles can also receive a special mention if they excel in one of the following fields: ecology, safety, comfort and design.
On Saturday 12 October 2019, a combination of road tests and static tests will be performed. Dedicated teams of international and Belgian experts each focus on their own specialty, using a carefully prepared checklist. In total more than 180 aspects of the vehicles are being evaluated.
The different jury groups are: Driving Test (one for bus and one for coach), Driver Comfort, Passenger Comfort Coach, Guide Comfort (for coach only), Ecology & Maintenance, Emissions, Safety and last but not least: Design & Passenger Comfort Bus. In total about 30 jurors will evaluate the participating vehicles.
End of June we will present the participating vehicles with more details. But it’s already clear that it will be an extremely interesting competition with a lot of electric buses and premium coaches.
Since Busworld is not only about vehicles, the same Busworld Awards jury looks for innovations in accessories, spare parts and service components in the exhibition. For Busworld this is a way to guide all visitors and readers to the must see innovations presented in the Busworld exhibition.
