Airex Composite Structures reveals for the first time structural and modular lightweight roof XBODY® combined with the interior system of the company Farhym. Integrated lightweight systems will be presented in the composition of the sandwich technology and the variable interior solutions for city buses and coaches.
The combination of both systems results in weight and cost optimized integrative lightweight solutions which are shown by our demonstrators. The benefit for our customers is to receive an already preassembled sandwich roof module with integrated interior and functional interfaces for highest weight savings and functionality from a single source. Consequent realization of full integration concepts makes weight savings up to 300 kg per bus come true.
The XBODY® roof module has been refined to a standard solution so that it can be adjusted in length and width according to the customer requirements and can be integrated into the bus structure by bolting or bonding which offers a wide range of installation possibilities.
The modularity of the XBODY® integral roof with the combination of the interior system saves time during production and the assembly by integration of functions so that XBODY® stands for a light, flexible and economical solution for the bus manufacturer.
Based on the extremely light XBODY® sandwich roof, which is a proven solution for decades in city buses and coaches, a structural intermediate floor for double decker buses has been developed which takes the main loads in the bus structure. Next to the achievable weight savings of more than 100 kg, generous standing heights (50 mm more compared to the standard concept) as well as function integrations like seat rails are realized through the stiff and slim composite design. The XBODY® intermediate floor is already successfully in use in different double-decker buses and will be demonstrated on our booth.
Furthermore new developments from Airex Composite Structures are smaller XBODY® sandwich components, which can be used as doors, flaps, lightweight partion walls or engine towers in modular lightweight design. XBODY® sandwich components fulfill all requirements in regard of design, acoustics and fire protection as well as weight reduction.
